Facebook purge for your well-being

Some thoughts on getting rid of Facebook completely.

It’s been over a year and a half since I deleted my Facebook account and I have not missed it at all. No more clickbait headlines to sift through as I scrolled through my feed, nor any misguided and ill-informed opinions passing as science or political discourse. It’s been very freeing to be rid of it. As a further bonus, the continued breaches and disregard for user security and privacy by the company don’t make me miss having a presence on there at all.

That said, I can’t be rid of Facebook until I’m also free from their other properties including Instagram and WhatsApp. That day will soon come. The tough part of course will be to ensure that I can still communicate with those I care for, but I don’t think this will be a problem in a post-Facebook world.

I think this is something we should all consider.

Some thoughts from others who have done or attempted the same.
